2 & 3 year old classes: Letters: X, Y, Z; Numbers: review 1-10

4 yr old/Pre-K classes: Review all alphabet letters and numbers 1-20

Transitional Kindergarten

This school year we started a Transitional Kindergarten class in preparation for the change in the kindergarten enrollment age starting in 2012. This class uses a more progressive approach to our pre-kindergarten program and it allows those children that attend a pre-kindergarten class for two years a different educational experience. The State of California has adopted a plan to move up the start age for kindergarten within the next three years. This gives the child the “gift of time” before entering a full kindergarten program. The new law states: a child entering kindergarten must be 5

years old by:

• November 1^st for the 2012 – 2013 school year
• October 1^st for the 2013 – 2014 school year
• September 1^st for the 2014 -2015 school year

Each school district is taking a little different approach to this regulation so parents need to be familiar with their school’s admission policy.
