Joy is God’s gift to us that gives us strength; it is one of the fruit of the Spirit and is to be a part of our spiritual DNA. Joy is a vital part of God’s ultimate Kingdom.
As we read God’s Word, we need to ask two questions:
Is there something here that God wants me to know?
Is there something here that God wants me to do?
In Isaiah 35, we see both.
God wants us to know that we are destined for everlasting joy. In the meantime though, what does He want us to do?
Strengthen those who are weak, v. 3a.
When we look for opportunities to strengthen those who are weak, we will experience joy.
Support those who fall, v. 3b.
Galatians 6:1-2; Proverbs 17:17
When we steady those whose knees give way, we will experience joy.
Speak encouragement to those who are troubled, v. 4.
When we speak encouragement into the lives of others, we will experience joy.
