Jesus wants us to understand the Gospel story, to know and understand why God sent His Son. If we are in a growing relationship with Jesus, we are able to understand, and as we develop as His disciples, our understanding will increase.
Jesus shares another parable, but this one is specifically focused on those living in the middle, reminding them of why they are the good soil.
Those living in the middle…
Understand what to do with the light, Luke 8:16. What is the light?
God’s Word, Psalm 119:105;
The Living Word, Jesus, John 8:12;
We are the light, Matthew 5:14-16;
We are in the Word, and the Word is in us, and we are proclaiming this Word to others.
Understand that all things will be revealed, v. 17.
Paul speaks of a judgment to come, 2 Corinthians 5:7-10;
Those living in the middle, understand that what has gone in can be removed through daily confession and cleansing.
Understand that we reap what we sow, v. 18.
Hosea 8:7; 2 Corinthians 9:6; Galatians 6:7-8;
Those living in the middle will reap a harvest if we do not give up, Galatians 6:9.
Understand that we have a new family, vs. 19-21.
Jesus is prioritizing relationships based on hearing, obeying and applying.
